The Hilltops wine and food region is becoming increasingly recognised for producing quality cool climate wines, foods whilst offering an authentic country experience. Cellar doors are open, offering the opportunity to taste and purchase fine wines and quality produce.
Harden and Boorowa in the southern part of the Hilltops Region are 20-30 minutes closer to both Canberra and Sydney.
There is one daily CountryLink service to Young connecting with the XPT train in Cootamundra. From Cootamundra it is a short half an hour coach transfer to Young. The bus to Cootamundra arrives in Young from either Dubbo or Bathurst at 11.35am and returns back to Young at 3.35pm from Cootamundra.
From Cootamundra station there are direct passenger train services from Sydney Central (5 hours) and Melbourne Southern Cross (6 hours). Direct train services are also available from both Sydney and Melbourne to Harden Station.

The Hilltops Region’s closest airport is Canberra – a little over an hour from the southern part of the region or around 1 hour 45 mins from Young. Sydney International Airport is approximately 3.5 hour drive to the region (or 4 hours to Young).
Young Community Transport
Young Community Transport offers a same day return bus services from Young to Canberra and Wagga Wagga.
Drop off points in Canberra are the three major hospitals, the Jolimont Interchange in Canberra City and the Canberra Airport.
Drop off points in Wagga Wagga include medical institutions, the airport and University.
This service to and from Canberra is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday and operates via Boorowa whilst the Wagga service is on Tuesday and Thursday.
