Moppity Vineyards is a flagship producer of the Hilltops region and recently rocketed to prominence having claimed some of the most coveted prizes in winemaking, both in Australia and overseas.
The 170 acre vineyard sits at the highest elevation in the Hilltops and the 37 year old vines are among the oldest in the region. Moppity vineyards won over 90 trophies and medals since 2009 and produced fruit for the ’09 Jimmy Watson winner. No wonder Campbell Mattinson has heralded Moppity as “a rising star of top-end Australian wine”.

Kate Sevier’s YANGOORA GROMARK STUD also measure maternal traits. Rams can be used.
The flock has LAMBPLAN Australian Sheep Breeding Values [ ASBV’s ]for both maternal and terminal traits.
This means rams can be selected for specific enterprises to produce preferred prime lambs for the consumer.

Wilkie’s Cottage was an existing restaurant reopened by Wendy Scriven and Lauren Walker in Wombat NSW in 2010 which put them on the map as a fresh food destination with a wide range of local and Australian made produce and gift wares and local art.
Then in 2012 they decided to make a move to put them in the middle of things in Young and they opened Wilkie’s Cottage Cafe & Pantry to rave reviews and have been going strong ever since.

Yandilla Mustard Seed Oil Pty. Ltd is a family company operating in the countryside around Wallendbeen, south of Young, specialising in the production of cold pressed mustard seed oil and all things mustard. They are also internationally recognised as the world’s first cold-pressed, low erucic acid mustard oil industry. Mustard seed oil has a pleasant nutty flavour and is not hot or ‘mustardy’. It is cold pressed from the whole seed, with no heat treatment, and is then filtered through cotton and paper, and bottled. Mustard seed oil retains the characteristic colour, aroma and taste of the oil on the parent seed during processing and the hot elements (or the pungent taste) do not enter the oil during pressing. The oil contains no additives or preservatives and has a low saturated fat content. It is also high in both monounsaturated and omega-3 fats.
Spring Creek Grove is owned and managed by partners Karen Hawley and John Speight. Karen has a background in public health (nursing) and John has an environmental consultancy background. Their approach to grove management and oil production is strongly influenced by our education and previous careers.
The grove was planted in the late 1990’s. They moved from Sydney for a tree change, and bought the grove in early 2012 and have been rejuvenating it since then. They have approximately 1000 olive trees; Frantoio and Manzanillo varieties. Their trees are used for “Curious Fox” branded olive oil production, although they may trial table olives in the future.

Willayoung is a family owned and operated property specialising in Tree Ripened Stonefruit. It consists of over 5,500 trees on approximately 8 hectares(20 acres). Purchased in 1988 by Andrew and Helen Ricketts the land was originally the site of Patterson’s Abattoirs which serviced several of Young’s butcheries. The Abattoirs operated until the 1960’s. The land was originally bare ground, apart from a residence, as well as several of the abattoirs’ buildings and yards. These buildings have now disappeared, apart from the slaughterhouse which has been converted to a machinery shed/workshop. After initially operating as a fruit-tree nursery (with a small number of ‘hobby’ fruit trees) there has been a transition to full orchard operation. The final stage of this transition was the establishment of our packing shed in 2002. Fruit picking is delayed until fruit approaches full ripeness, increasing sugar levels, and enhancing flavour. This strategy is applied to all fruit – Apricots, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums and figs, as well as table grapes. Situated near Young, on the South West Slopes of New South Wales, Willayoung Orchard is in the heart of this renowned cherry-growing district. For many years Young was the leading cherry-producing area in the Southern Hemisphere. It is not so well-known that Young’s mix of soils and strong summer conditions makes it an ideal environment for production of stonefruit
